Friday October 9th
Rain Check, a Winston-Salem based acoustic quartet, has mastered the art of traditional and contemporary bluegrass, covers from some of the greatest songwriters of all time, and an ever growing list of our own originals. The result is simply great music, happy audiences, every time, everywhere.
06:30 PM - 09:30 PM
Live Music: Evan Blackerby
Friday October 16th
Evan Blackerby has something to say. He’s been relentless in working to cultivating his own musical voice and sound - a sound that can only be described as alt-bluesy Americana, folkish-rock-esque singer-songwriter. With the passage of time, he’s found confidence and has become more comfortable in his unpolished honesty and ability to craft a song worth listening to.
07:00 PM - 10:00 PM
9th Annual Day of the Dead
Saturday October 17th
In October, we Play Dead at The Fish! Our 9th Annual Day of the Dead party is Saturday, October 17th!
Cosmic Charlie, Athens, GA’s high-energy Grateful Dead tribute, will headline the event. Rather than mimicking the Dead exactly, Cosmic Charlie chooses to tap into the Dead’s energy and style as a foundation on which to build. The result is healthy balance of creativity and tradition, where both the band and its audience are taken to that familiar edge with the sense that music is actually being MADE here tonight.
Marvelous Funkshun will make their Day of the Dead debut this year. Featuring soaring guitar and pedal steel over a heavy groove, Marvelous Funkshun is a venue and festival favorite. The band has graced the stage with artists such as George Porter Jr. of the Meters, Eric Gales, the late Kofi Burbridge of the Derek Trucks Band, Snoop Dogg and more.
"Let there be songs to fill the air" all afternoon, too! Kris Atom and Pat Bourque will warm things up with live music in the afternoon and set the vibe for the day.
Check out the vendors and see what’s shakin’ on Shakedown Street. There will be a great lineup of vendors on the lot all afternoon, as well as a tie-dye station and face painting for the kids (and the youthful at heart)!
Rob’s Bear Creek BBQ food truck will be here all day with their incredible BBQ fusion menu and La Callejera authentic Mexican food truck will join for dinner.
See you on October 17th for the 9th Annual Day of the Dead!
As always, this is a FREE event!
01:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Live Music: Red Umber
Friday October 23rd
Red Umber’s jazz style is warm and velvety with a pop-friendly sensibility that swerves into the mainstream. A quartet built around strong musicianship, Dustin Jennings takes a lyrical approach that’s closer to a vocalist than a bebop horn player with melodic hooks instead of dense improvisation. His grooves fit nicely in the pocket blending with Andy Lemaire’s expressive electric guitar and a gifted rhythm section steered by bassist Keith Taylor and drummer Jeff Wade. The music carries a mix of nostalgia, optimism and light funk that makes it accessible to both jazz audiences and crossover listeners.
07:00 PM - 09:30 PM
Live Music: Pickety Split
Friday October 30th
Pickety Split is a North Carolina bluegrass band that blends traditional bluegrass with modern jamgrass, original music, and everything in between. Whether it's a classic tune, a high-energy instrumental, or one of their own songs, they focus on tight musicianship, tasteful improvisation, and putting on a show that's fun for both dedicated bluegrass fans and people hearing the music for the first time.
