Live Music: Asheville Mountain Boys
Friday October 17th
By their name, you know where they are from, and by their sound, you know what they are about. The Asheville Mountain Boys are on a mission to capture not just the style but the spirit of traditional bluegrass. Asheville, NC has long been known for great music and its roots in bluegrass go back to the founding of the genre (Bill Monroe’s first broadcast performance as the Bluegrass Boys was at Asheville radio station WWNC in 1938) A group that firmly stakes its claim to the tradition of the music from the area, The Asheville Mountain Boys spring onto the scene with a thought,” What happened to bluegrass?” It’s not a disparaging one that condemns current styles in the genre but rather asks, “Why do we love this music in the first place” and answers with an approach that is true to the originators of the genre in the sense of both style and philosophy. Bluegrass is raw emotion, excitement, drive, and authenticity. It is not sanitized or compromised but a reflection of the lives of those who play it. It’s storytelling that follows a throughline of tradition.

8th Annual Day of the Dead
Saturday October 18th
It’s time to “Play Dead” at The Fish! The 8th Annual Day of the Dead is Saturday, October 18th!
Day of the Dead is our favorite party of the year, headlined by Cosmic Charlie, Athens GA’s high-energy Grateful Dead tribute.
This year, we’re getting started early with live music all and all night, from 2:30-11:00! Terra-String will kick things off at 2:30 with a little afternoon jam-grass, followed by Sam Robinson of Marvelous Funkshun at 5:45. Cosmic Charlie will take the stage for two sets at 8:00!
We have an amazing lineup of vendors who will be set up on the lot all afternoon, with everything from tie-dyes to ceramics to candles, and more! Grab a Day of the Dead shirt and dye it at the tie dye station! There will be faceprinting for the kids, too! Get here early and check out all the goods on Shakedown Street!
Come hungry, because Davey D’s Smash Burger truck will be set up all day!
Come “Play Dead” with us at The Fish on Saturday, October 18th!

Live Music: Drive Time
Friday November 7th
Drive Time is an innovative bluegrass band based out of Roxboro, NC. The band is known for their hard driving sounds and sweet, high harmonies. With veteran sidemen (and women) who have toured nationally with the likes of Sideline, Nu-Blu and Sweet Potato Pie, and regionally with several other veterans, these six friends have ventured out on their own to bring you the bluegrass music that has inspired them. Influenced by IIIrd Tyme Out, Mountain Heart, The Lonesome River Band, Boone Creek, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver and countless others, they create their own refreshing sound. With diverse backgrounds in traditional bluegrass and country music, Drive Time encompasses a unique sound of their own. The band’s three studio albums are now available on all streaming platforms. Be on the lookout for Drive Time at a live show near you!
